I’ve been curious about the significance of lesser-known Roman numerals. Most people know the basics like I, V, and X, but are there other interesting numerals that played a big role in history?

Most people know the main Roman numerals, but there are definitely some lesser-known ones that are pretty interesting. I was just reading in The significance of lesser-known Roman numerals that numerals like "L" (50) and "D" (500) played a big role in ancient Roman commerce and architecture. For example, they were used to mark years in inscriptions and on monuments. It’s a cool bit of history that often gets overlooked, but these numerals were essential to Roman life.
